Crunch Time

I'm down to 16 days to departure. This month is going very quickly and I still have alot to do before I can leave. I think I've got all of my financial stuff completed and I think I have purchased everything I need - short of a couple odds and ends. I've been laying stuff out that I want to take and some days it looks like alot and others it looks very manageable. I'm sure I will overpack but that's my nature!

I'm getting anxious about staging. I'm ready to meet everyone but large groups can be a bit overwhelming for me. Thankfully I know a few people already and that takes some of the pressure off.

I can't remember for sure but I think I was more nervous about starting college. 10 days from now might be a different story.

My first night of college I forgot to bring my security blanket--my guitar. I knew I wouldn't get it for weeks, even months, because I didn't dare drive home before the first official break!

Anyway, during our first orientation meeting, I introduced myself and said I forgot my guitar and was pretty bummed about it. A girl named Bethany said, "I have a guitar you can borrow. I brought it to learn how to play, but I don't need it right now."

Bethany's now one of my best friends.

So there's a heartwarming--and I hope, encouraging--story about orientation. And I think you know how I feel about large groups and new people. :)
